Gabriel Marques

Musician, composer and arranger, plays 7 strings guitar.

Born in Salvador (Bahia, Brazil), studied at the music school “Escola de Choro Raphael Rabello” in Brasilia, there he especialized on the Choro style and other brazilian styles like Samba and Bossa Nova. For 4 years, he’ve been also at the “Escola de Musica de Brasilia”, where studied electric guitar and improvisation.

Gabriel studied classical guitar in the “University of Brasilia” (UnB), for 2 years. Gabriel Marques performed in clubs in Brasilia and all over Brazil with Choro groups, Samba groups and Bossa Nova groups. For all of the above he also wrote original tunes and arrangements. In the year of 2006 he came to Israel and joined the choro ensemble – Chorico (The Red Sea Jazz Festival – Eilat, 2008).

Living in Israel, Gabriel is playing with the choro ensemble – Chorole, the samba group – SAMBADOBOM, and with Brazilian singers in Israel, among them – Tenira da Silva, Ba Freyre, Elizete Retter – and Israeli singers – Eden Holan, Noa Peled and Shani Harpaz.
